Congrats, you survived Valentines Day

Like me you were probably by yourself this Valentines Day.

Though this is probably one of the most hated holidays, I think its great to have a day dedicated to love. A day to focus on relationships.

Not only relationships with other people but your relationship with yourself.

I choose to view Valentines day as a reminder to constantly treat yourself.

Here are some things you can do to begin regularly treating yourself:

You can start setting yourself up on dates

They don’t have to be big dates. It can be something as simple as watching a movie you’ve be wanting to watch with your favorite snack.

Maybe you want to start watching anime.

The first anime I watched was HunterXHunter, leave some suggestions in the comments below.

Maybe you want to order yourself some flowers. (Don’t make it sad)

Have a spa day at home by yourself.

It can be something as simple as doing a face mask with some nice music in the background.

Do that thing you’ve been wanting to do. (IDK what it is you tell me)

These don’t have to be stuff you only do on Valentines day you can do this every two weeks or every month. Taking time to appreciate yourself is important in self-love.

I’m sure you’ve heard all of these suggestions about before but they can help.

Or at least that’s what I think. Self love can mean something different for you. Let’s start by figuring out what self love means.

Bbrfoundation.org states that, “Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological and spiritual growth. Self-love means having a high regard for your own well-being and happiness.”

Self-love is appreaciation yourself and making taking care of your well-being a priority.

Here are some ideas:

  • make a list of all the good you’ve done at the end of each day

ex: I didn’t shame myself for eating sugar.

  • make a list of all of your strengths
  • make a list of everything you’ve accomplished in your life
  • think nice thoughts to yourself when you make a mistake
  • forgive yourself and look forward to tomorrow

These are some simple things I’m going to start doing to begin loving myself

And you should try some of these things too.

Remember that relationships are work and that includes your relationship with yourself.

So though you were probably by yourself this Valentine’s day, that doesn’t have to mean your lonely.
